A separate busway was built alongside the Northern motorway from Onewa Road through to Constellation Drive. We were employed by the Alliance (NZTA, Fletcher, Beca and Higgins) to prepare the initial construction programme and to monitor and report on monthly progress.
The project included new bus stations and associated carparks at Akoranga, Smales Farm, Constellation and Albany.
In conjunction with the works the motorway was widened from Onewa through to Tristram with extra links at Esmonde Road and new viaducts for the links at Onewa Rd.
New bridges / bridge extensions were required at Lake Road and Esmonde Road.
